When I first set this website up, I wrote my blog on BlogSpot, and pulled the feed in to display it here. That worked initially as a quick win for getting it set up, but I felt I needed a more powerful solution in the long run.

I decided to use BlogEngine.NET to manage the website for 3 reasons – its free, written in .NET and so simple to set-up, use and customize.

There a lot of content management systems out there, but alternatives include Kentico, Umbraco, N2CMS, DotNetNuke, mojoPortal and Rainbow Portal.
