You get an error of ‘An internal build error has occurred. Right-click for more information.’ when debugging AIR with Flex Builder 3. It’s an error that occurs fairly frequently and is really quite frustrating, but easy to fix.
When I first encountered it, the way I got round it was to close and re-open flex builder; this was obviously rubbish! I eventually discovered that this was because the process adl.exe was still running. (adl.exe is the Air Debugger Launcher).
The way to fix this error is to close any open files in Flex Builder, close adl.exe using Task Manager, clear any debugging sessions from the list then select ‘Clean…’ from the project menu.
To avoid this happening again, try to make sure that all debugging instances are properly stopped and cleared from the debug session list.
